By pulling cash value from your infinite banking policy, you rewind your compound curve to a lower position, not to mention you stunt future growth by receiving a smaller cut of any future dividend pools.Ĭonversely, if you borrow against your Whole Life’s continuously compounding cash value, you never miss a beat on that steepening compound curve while maintaining your place in line for those bigger future dividends. The longer you let compounding work for you the better it gets, especially at the upper-right-hand side of the graph. You see, if you withdraw rather than borrow from your infinite banking Whole Life insurance policy you would be removing assets that could’ve kept compounding on your behalf. Remember how I said that continuous compounding is the most important ingredient of the infinite banking concept? Borrowing against your infinite banking life insurance policy is exactly how you maintain the compounding of your cash flow and liquidity while still funding major expenditures, emergencies, and other investment opportunities. Let’s discuss an infinite banking “loan”, even though it’s often thought of as a 4-letter word. However, our deep-dive into the last 42-years can demonstrate how an infinite banking policy responds to fluctuating interest rates for both dividends & loan rates. One problem with infinite banking is the inability to illustrate what happens to a Whole Life policy in a rising interest environment. Nevertheless, the dividends paid during the low-interest era were often more than double what was originally projected thanks to their continuous compounding after that early spike. What’s interesting is how dividend rates spiked initially and then plummeted far below what was originally illustrated. The study shows the policy’s initial dividend projections side by side with the actual dividends paid over the last 42-years. In fact, we did an entire study using an actual overfunded Whole Life policy from 1980. Infinite banking whole life insurance can benefit greatly from the interest rate volatility we’re experiencing today. Don’t forget that this happens in a tax-exempt environment so that may feel more like 6%-9% depending on your tax bracket. Projections for infinite banking Whole Life insurance today currently projects a long-term internal growth rate of between 4%-5%. ![]() This would entitle you to a bigger cut of future dividend pools, which increases the future guaranteed cash value, and increases your cut of future Whole Life dividends, and so on. When you elect to roll these higher dividends back into the policy, they become part of a new guaranteed cash value calculation. But underwriting profits from all their other insurance lines contribute to your dividend, which is why Whole Life even outperforms in low-interest eras. These dividends from an infinite banking policy often rise with prevailing interest rates you share in the yield of their entire investment portfolio. These Whole Life policies offer guaranteed growth between 2-3% in addition to annual dividend payments, which aren’t guaranteed but have been paid every year for over 150 years by the strongest mutual companies. So not only do you become a customer when you buy an infinite banking whole life insurance policy, but you also become part owner of the underlying insurance company. ![]() You are the product!Ĭonversely, mutual insurance companies are actually owned by their whole life policyholders, hence the word mutual. ![]() Whatever taxable savings rate big banks pay to their depositors pales in comparison to what they’ll charge you to take a loan for the exact same amount.Īt a traditional bank they may call you a customer, but have no illusions. I'd love to be able to open the share sheet, and just have the normal iPad menu system options of saving to files or doing all that other stuff. Additionally, it would be amazing if the download functionality was less cumbersome. It would also be great if there was a way to enable those same tabs, just in different iterations for different file types, so that I could just swipe over to another screen and see all of my starred and shared mp4 files, swipe again to see PDFS, and again to see JPEGs and PSD's or something like that. This issue is the fact that we can’t edit directly through Drive on iOS mobile devices (and I’m not sure about Samsung or Chrome mobile devices). I find nothing wrong with it except for one small thing that was not near frustrating enough to make me remove a star. Everything else I’ve tried honestly was nothing to Google. I think the main rub against a big bed stored at the ceiling is the large volume it sweeps out as you lower it for night use. Thanks for the pointer to the Reese products. I'll definitely look at more ATV ramp variations to see if something might work. I won't really know until we have our van (probably February, at this point) and I can mock things up. I'd like to not have to duck my head (I'm 5'10"). Once you factor in some room for the lift mechanism, the bedding, the mattress, and the platform, there's not a lot of room. The tricky part is making it all fit: the high-roof transit claims 6'9" interior height, but of course that's only in the middle. I barely make my bed at home - having to build]/I] my bed when traveling seemed insulting. In our previous vans I realized that one thing I really hated was having to construct and make the bed at night, just to undo it all in the morning. I suspect nothing else will be quite right for this application. ![]() It's quite possible that the only thing I'll retain from the Thule product is the worm-gear drive, and the winding shaft. The lift will never support more than the weight of the platform/mattress/bedding. In the "down" position the bed will rest on cabinets along the sides of the van (though initially it will rest on the floor, or perhaps on milk crates. If things all work out, the 60x75 bed will drop from the ceiling, intact (i.e., no folding), hung from a Thule storage lift (a setup that helps lift rooftop storage coffins to the ceiling of your garage). but that design will require one or more center beams of 1020, makes the whole thing thicker.Ĭlick to expand.I hear you - all that stuff could be valuable. Using just 8020, i know i can build what i need if i give myself 2" for the platform, using vertically-oriented 1020 to control deflection with 1010 in between to provide enough support for thin (probably wooden) bed slats. the platform edges can be taller, since they can form a tray around the mattress without affecting the height of the mattress top. the bed will be lifted the the ceiling when not in use, so keeping the platform as thin as possible is a high-level goal. The alternative is to use 80/20 stuff for the whole platform. I'm weighing the pros/cons of building a single-piece 60"x75" bed platform using these as a starting point, probably with 80/20 1020 beams (positioned on edge) along all 4 platform edges. I'll make a trip to the local outlet to check it out myself if no one knows, but does anyone happen to have the true dimensions of those three panels? by which i mean thickness, end-to-end length (not including the hooks etc at the top end), and rung-to-rung spacing? We just need to remember that the SEs come from the diagonal of:Īgain, I have control over and all I need to remember is that for (centered) predictors, is really just the inverse of the variance-covariance matrix of the predictors. But what about multiple OLS regression? Well, I think the multiple regression case is even simpler. The code line e sqrt(var.e/ssq) #population SE There are two elements here that we need to have control over: and. Of the various ways to calculate the SE for the regression coefficient in simple linear regression, I prefer this one for our purposes: Let’s start from the beginning, simple linear regression. Therefore, I reasoned, it makes sense to set these in simulation studies whenever possible so we have a version of what the ‘true’ value would be. Well, the fact of the matter is that the way standard errors are defined in OLS multiple linear regression do involve population-level quantities. So the question comes to mind: We are well-acquainted with how to simulate data where the parameters are known in the population…but what about their variabilities? Does it even make sense to talk about “population standard errors”? Like… you need to simulate what the population may look like and then you need to simulate what the sampling behaviour may be… too much simulating, LoL. But this approach has always made me feel kinda awkward because it’s like you’re “double-dipping” in your simulation. So it stands to reason that the average SE should be close to this quantity, even if it was derived empirically through simulation and not analytically. In layperson’s terms, the standard deviation of the sampling distribution of the coefficients is the standard error. (3) Compare the mean SE to the SD of the coefficients. (2) Calculate the mean of the SEs and the standard deviation of the coefficients. (1) Run your simulation and save both regression coefficients and their standard errors. So…the only way I knew at first about how to assess SEs was in three steps: For the remaining of this article every time I talk about “standard errors” I’m most likely referring to the standard errors of regression coefficients within OLS multiple regression. If they shrink or increase under violations of assumptions then we know something is going to be wrong with our p-values and Type I error rates and yadda-yadda. And a simple way to assess this efficiency is by looking at the estimated standard errors (SEs) of our parameter estimates. When working on ‘robustness-type’ simulations, we are usually not only interested in the unbiasedness and consistency but also the efficiency of our estimators. This is an interesting insight that I had a couple of weeks ago when I was preparing to teach my class in Monte Carlo simulations. ![]() Rather than re-write the particular passage, specific notational expedients evolved to accommodate this. ![]() Scholars offer many explanations for this: practicality and ease of reading and interpretation, a shift away from multi-voiced music and toward solo or homophonic settings in dramatic music, the desire for segmenting music into discrete segments, and so forth.Īt times in a composition, it is desirable or necessary to repeat an entire earlier passage, or return to the beginning of the piece. Since rhythmic durations in Renaissance music were organized in proportion to one another (differing forms of mensural notation), measures and their separating bar lines were not in use, nor were time signatures, as we know them. The rise of the “Second Practice,” ( Seconda prattica) or “New Style” ( Stile moderno) of composition (early opera) and the concomitant rise of instrumental music necessitated changes in notational practice. The crossover period between Renaissance and Baroque music at end of the 16th Century and the beginning of the 17th Century witnessed many changes as to how music was written. Use of the staff will be explained fully in Chapter 2 "The Elements of Pitch:Sound, Symbol, and Tone". For these examples we will employ a five-line staff. Bar lines serve as boundaries, defining a “measure” of music. In music these groupings are delimited, or “bounded” by vertical strokes called bar lines. In Section 1.2 "Pulse, Tempo, and Meter", when describing meter and time signatures, we spoke of “grouping pulse values together” to form discrete units.
